Nursing
We care for students with both congenital and acquired disabilities many of whom have complex health needs.
Our aim is to enable everyone to lead as full and fulfilling a life as possible.
24 hour nursing care is available Monday to Friday and overnight Friday to Sunday to meet the complex medical needs of all the young people who attend our school and St Joseph’s our post 16 unit.
All our nursing staff are qualified and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. They have extensive experience and knowledge of the care required by our students.
Individual health care plans are developed, monitored and updated to ensure that each young person receives the care they need. In providing that care, we are able to draw upon the dedication and expertise of our on-site therapy teams. These include Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech and Language therapists and Massage therapists.
The nursing team are supported by our medical officer who is a G.P at a local practise as well as our Chair of Governors who is also a G.P.
We facilitate many health clinics at St Rose’s to ensure we are involved in the on-going care of each student. These include clinics run by Consultant Paediatricians, Dieticians, Dentists and Orthotists
"Teachers and teaching assistants form excellent relationships with pupils. They are very alert to the individual needs of pupils, especially their medical conditions, and adapt tasks flexibly to take account of small changes in concentration."
